First, let me confess that I’m not a NASCAR fan, but this book altered my perceptions. Reading the captivating stories of people who make up that sport changed my viewpoint from apathy to interest. And I appreciated how the author included many quotes from interviews he personally conducted with the drivers. The riveting stories hooked me. I especially enjoyed reading about rookie driver Trevor Bayne's nearly miraculous Daytona 500 win which catapulted him from obscurity to stardom. I know very little about NASCAR racing but these 50 devotions from sports writer Lee Warren in RACING FOR CHRIST make me want to know more about these drivers. As Christians we are daily examples to others about how to live a Christ-like life. With each of these devotions, Warren helps readers to see behind the race and learn from the Christ-like actions of these drivers. Their actions teach us how to be more like Jesus to others. -W.
